Fashion Design Intern

From June through August, I worked side by side with designer Geoffrey Mac to finalize his 2022 Odyssey Collection. This collection can be found on geoffreymac.com and CFDA’s website. It is no secret that Geoffrey is known for his sculptural, intricately patterned garments. Seeing my degree in mathematics as an asset, Geoffrey took it upon himself to mentor me in his skillful artistry of pattern making. He further educated me through intense lessons in illustration, draping, garment construction, fabric manipulation, and leather work. Over the course of the summer, Geoffrey and I became quite close as we worked day and night to style actors and musicians such as Donald Glover, Tawny Newsome, and Shea Coulee for upcoming television shows. Geoffrey also allowed me to submit custom designs to be worn by Sylvan Esso for their most recent tour. Geoffrey helped edit these designs and, through bringing the designs to life, taught me his masterful ways of latex work. As Geoffrey’s Odyssey collection began to wrap up, I helped coordinate model calls, photo shoots, photo retouching, and marketing campaigns.

I am truly so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a kind and talented designer. Through the course of this internship, I learned more than I ever dreamed possible and made so many meaningful, life-long friendships and connections. It was Geoffrey who made me believe in my own artistic abilities and who has inspired me to take the risk, follow my heart, and pursue a career in fashion.
